Quinnipiac is expanding its 2020 club sports platform to include two new teams — club running and club eSports.  There are now a dozen options for students to choose from.

“Given the pandemic of 2020, we know that cardio exercise helps students physically and mentally," said Michael Medina, director of campus life for recreation. "We encourage all students to get involved in our recreation programming — including fitness classes, workouts, intramurals and club sports — to stay active and meet new friends.”

All teams will comply with Connecticut health guidelines and masks will be worn at all times. This will allow for students to create connections and socialize in a safe environment.

“The running team will be able to use our refurbished track in the Recreation Center and will coordinate runs on campus, Sleeping Giant trails or at the canal trail running parallel to Whitney Avenue,” Medina explained.

Quinnipiac is also expanding on their pre-existing eSports team, which originated through the BA in Game Design and Development program. This team will be sponsored by the MAAC Conference and nationally by the EGFC.

“The team will be competing in MAAC competitions this year including Super Smash Bros, Overwatch and Rocket League. They will also be exploring expanding into Dota 2 and FIFA for MAAC play,” Medina said.

These two teams are exciting additions to Bobcat Nation, Medina said, and will help students stay active and social during these unprecedented times. The university offers the following club sports options:

  • Coed tennis

  • Dance

  • eSports

  • Figure skating

  • Men's ice hockey

  • Men's lacrosse

  • Men's rugby

  • Softball

  • Women's lacrosse

  • Women's running
